Trump Grants Full Pardons to Reality TV Stars Todd and Julie Chrisley After Bank Fraud Conviction

President Donald Trump has issued full pardons to reality TV couple Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were serving lengthy federal prison sentences after being convicted in 2022 of bank fraud and tax-related offenses. The couple was found guilty of defrauding banks out of more than $30 million, in addition to multiple counts of tax evasion.
The announcement was confirmed by a White House official on Tuesday.
Trump’s decision was made public in a post on X (formerly Twitter) by his adviser Margo Martin, who shared a video of Trump calling Savannah Chrisley—daughter of the couple—to break the news personally.
“It’s a terrible thing. But it’s a great thing because your parents are going to be free and clean, and hopefully we can do it by tomorrow,” Trump told her over the phone. “I don’t know them, but give them our regards.”
Trump was joined in the Oval Office by Alice Johnson, a former federal inmate pardoned during Trump’s first term, who now serves as his informal “pardon czar.”
White House spokesperson Harrison Fields praised the pardons in a statement, saying, “The President is always pleased to give well-deserving Americans a second chance, especially those who have been unfairly targeted and overly prosecuted by an unjust justice system. President Trump called Savannah and her brother from the Oval Office to personally inform them that he would be pardoning their parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, whose sentences were far too harsh.”
The couple rose to fame with their reality series Chrisley Knows Best, which chronicled their lavish lifestyle and family dynamics. They were convicted in June 2022 of conspiring to defraud financial institutions and of committing tax offenses. Both have consistently maintained their innocence and have been appealing their convictions.
Todd Chrisley is currently serving a 12-year sentence at a federal prison camp in Florida, while Julie Chrisley is serving seven years at a federal medical facility in Lexington, Kentucky.
Savannah Chrisley has been outspoken about her parents’ legal battle, even speaking at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee this past July. She also campaigned for Trump as part of “Team Trump’s Women Tour” and recently discussed her family’s case on Lara Trump’s Fox News program.
