I’m a Disabled Girl, and Today I Found the Courage to Ask for Something Small — Just a “Hi,” So I Don’t Feel Invisible in a World That Rushes Past

I’m a disabled girl, and today I found the courage to ask something very small:
“Can I get a hi?” 😢🥲🥲🥹
To many people, a greeting is just a habit. Something said without thought. But to me, it carries weight. It means being noticed in a world that often rushes past without looking. It means being acknowledged as a person—not defined by my disability, but seen as someone who feels, hopes, and belongs.
When Silence Feels Heavy
There are days when I feel strong.
And there are days when everything feels heavier than I can explain.
Sometimes people don’t know what to say.
Sometimes they choose not to say anything at all.
That silence can be lonely. It can make a simple heart feel invisible, like you’re standing right there… and still not seen.
I Am More Than What You See
Inside me, there is resilience.
There is sensitivity.
There is a voice that still wants connection, kindness, and proof that I matter just like everyone else.
I don’t ask for pity.
I don’t ask to be treated differently.
I only ask for humanity.
Why a Simple “Hi” Means So Much
When I ask for a “hi,” I’m not asking for attention. I’m asking for a moment of warmth. A small bridge between two people. A sign that this world still has room for gentleness.
One word can remind someone they exist.
One word can soften a hard day.
One word can say, you belong here.
A Message From My Heart to Yours
So here it is—my “hi” to you 🤍
You are seen.
You are valued.
And you truly matter.
And if you can, maybe leave a “hi” for me too.
Sometimes, the smallest kindness is the most powerful one.
