We Wake Up While the City Is Still Sleeping — And Carry a Job the World Often Pretends Not to See

We wake up while the city is still sleeping.

While many people are warm in their beds, we are already up — uniform on, strength in our chest, responsibility heavy on our shoulders.

We clean what others don’t want to see.

We organize what most people never notice.

We prepare spaces so someone else’s day can start “normally.”

The Hardest Part Isn’t the Work

Do you know what’s truly hardest?

It’s not the heavy buckets.

It’s not the sore back or tired body at the end of the shift.

It’s being treated like we’re invisible.

Some people avoid eye contact.

Some pretend they didn’t hear a simple “good morning.”

Some act like a job only matters when it looks important.

Behind the Uniform Is a Whole Life

But behind this uniform, there is a mother.

A daughter.

A woman fighting for her family.

There are dreams.

There are bills to pay.

There is pride in honest work and dignity in showing up every single day.

This job is not shameful.

It is necessary.

And it deserves respect.

A Small Pause in a Long Day

Today, we stopped for a few minutes to have coffee.

Not luxury — just a breath.

A pause.

A reminder that we also deserve a moment of peace.

In that small moment, we remembered that we matter too.

One Simple Request

So I want to ask you something very simple:

If you don’t look down on the people who clean, who care, who keep everything standing —

leave a “hello” in the comments.

Just that.

Because sometimes one small word gives strength back to someone who is exhausted.

And if you know a cleaner, a housekeeper, or a janitor —

tag them here.

So they can read this.

So they can feel seen. 🤍🙏
