Andy Is Waiting — And Still Fighting Story originally shared by The Cure Starts Now
Andy is waiting.
Waiting to learn if more radiation is possible.
Waiting for MRI results after another pause in chemotherapy.
Waiting to see whether he can begin a clinical trial.
At just 11 years old, Andy has already endured more than many people face in a lifetime. Over more than three years of relentless treatment, he has battled medulloblastoma through four heartbreaking relapses. Hospital rooms, scans, and treatment plans have become part of his childhood.
But one thing has never been in question — Andy’s strength.

Courage Beyond His Years
Determined, driven, and remarkably resilient, Andy faces each day with a courage that inspires everyone around him. Even in the middle of uncertainty, he keeps going.
He is not defined by hospital charts or medical terminology.
He is a sixth grader.
A proud member of his school band.
A loving big brother who recently welcomed a new baby into the family.
His world holds both the weight of illness and the joy of everyday childhood moments — and somehow, he carries both with grace.
Turning Pain Into Purpose
Andy and his family have chosen to turn their fight into action. As ambassadors for The Cure Starts Now, they dedicate their time and energy to raising awareness and support for the very research children like Andy are still waiting for.
Even while navigating uncertainty, they are helping fund hope.
Their message is clear: progress matters. Research matters. Children deserve better options.
Because no child should have to wait for a cure.
Faith in the Middle of the Unknown
The coming weeks hold more unknowns — more decisions, more results, more waiting. And waiting can be one of the hardest parts of all.
So today, we lift Andy and his family in prayer.
For peace in the waiting.
For healing in every possible way.
For strength when the days feel long.
For unwavering encouragement when answers feel delayed.
Children like Andy remind us why this fight matters so deeply. They remind us that behind every statistic is a story — a band member, a big brother, a child with dreams still unfolding.
“Incurable” should never be an acceptable answer when hope, faith, and determination continue to lead the way forward.
Andy is waiting.
And we are believing alongside him that better days are still ahead. 💛
