Angelina Jolie Launches Global Education Initiative for Displaced Children

Geneva, Switzerland – Angelina Jolie, acclaimed actress and longtime humanitarian, announced the launch of a bold new global initiative focused on educational access for displaced children during a UNHCR summit on Monday.

The program, called “Future Seeds,” aims to build mobile schools and digital learning hubs in refugee camps across the Middle East and Africa.

Jolie, a UNHCR Special Envoy since 2012, said the initiative is “not charity, but justice.”

“Every child, regardless of where they’re born or what they’ve fled from, deserves a chance to learn,” she stated.

The announcement was met with applause from diplomats, educators, and NGO leaders gathered in Geneva.

“Future Seeds” will launch pilot programs in Jordan, Ethiopia, and Colombia, targeting areas with high numbers of displaced youth.

The project will also include training for local teachers and trauma-informed curriculum development.

UNHCR officials say over 50 million children worldwide are currently displaced, many without access to formal schooling.

Jolie’s foundation has pledged $25 million to the first phase of the program.

She called on governments and private donors to “step up and match action with compassion.”

Jolie has long used her platform to spotlight global crises, especially those affecting women and children.

Her previous missions include visits to conflict zones in Yemen, Myanmar, and South Sudan.

At the summit, she wore a simple beige suit and spoke without notes, urging a shift from short-term aid to long-term investment.

“This isn’t about saving children,” she said. “It’s about empowering them to save themselves.”

Jolie’s efforts were praised by UNICEF and the World Bank, both signaling interest in partnership.

The actress remains a powerful voice in international advocacy, blending star power with substance.
