I Was Left Beside a Dumpster—But God Made Sure I Was Never Unseen

I was a four-month-old baby, abandoned behind a dumpster. Alone. Crying. Invisible to the world—or so it seemed. But God made sure I wasn’t left unseen. Eighteen years later, I can confidently say: I was never abandoned by Him.

I don’t remember the day I was found, but the facts have stayed with me forever. I was four months old when Jordan, a 20-year-old college student visiting her hometown, noticed a crowd gathering near the dumpsters. Most people hesitated, unsure what to do. But Jordan stepped in. She picked me up, cradled me in her arms, and called for help. That moment changed my life forever.

My parents were never located, leaving the state to determine my future. The court asked Jordan to take temporary custody, and she agreed, thinking it would only be for a short while. But temporary became forever, because Jordan didn’t just take custody—she became my mother. She handled every feeding, every doctor’s appointment, every milestone I reached in those crucial early months.

Months later, the state asked if she wanted to adopt me. And she said yes. She chose me when she didn’t have to, and that choice shaped my life in ways I could never fully express. I grew up with a woman who loved me, nurtured me, and reminded me every day that I was wanted, cherished, and never alone.

Today, I am eighteen. I reflect on that dumpster and the helpless cries of a four-month-old me—and I am filled with gratitude. Grateful for the woman who refused to walk past me that day. Grateful for a God who ensured I was never truly abandoned. Grateful for the life I’ve been given—a life full of love, care, and second chances.

This story isn’t just mine. It’s a reminder that even in our darkest moments, someone—or something—sees us. Someone intervenes. Someone makes the choice to love when it would have been easier to look away. And sometimes, that someone is God.

I will forever be thankful. I am proof that even when life begins with uncertainty, love can make all the difference. And for me, that love came in the form of a courageous young woman named Jordan.
