On My Daughter’s Birthday, I’m Asking the World Not to Look Away
Today, my little girl is celebrating another year of life.

And while there should be nothing but joy in that sentence, my heart feels heavy. Not because she isn’t smiling—she is. Not because she doesn’t feel love at home—she does. But because I see how easily people pass by her, as if she doesn’t exist. As if her innocence and purity don’t even deserve a glance.
It hurts to realize how often love for innocent children is overlooked. How quickly kindness is withheld. And even though she is still small, she feels it. Children always do.
She deserves what every child deserves:
To be loved.
To be respected.
To be remembered.
A birthday is more than candles and cake. It’s a reminder that a life matters. That someone belongs in this world. That their presence is worth celebrating. A simple “Happy Birthday,” a warm smile, or a kind word may seem small—but to a child, it can mean everything.
Today, I’m asking for something simple, but meaningful.
Please don’t let this day go unnoticed.
Please help us show her that humanity, affection, and true love still exist.
Wish my little one a happy birthday. Let her feel seen. Let her feel valued. Let her know that the world can still be gentle.
Because no child should ever feel invisible—especially on their birthday.
