Today I’m Turning 88 — Looking Back on a Lifetime, Grateful for One More Morning and the Kindness of Simple Words

Today, I’m turning 88.
When I look back, I don’t just see years — I see a whole life.
Good seasons and hard seasons.
Prayers answered in silence.
Lessons I only understood after time slowed me down enough to hear them.
I’ve lived through joy and loss, beginnings and goodbyes. I’ve learned that not everything works out the way we hope — but somehow, life still gives us reasons to keep going.
Gratitude for the Simple Things
Today, I’m not asking for gifts.
I’m not asking for anything big.
I’m simply grateful to be here.
To breathe.
To wake up and see another day.
That alone feels like a blessing.
When the World Moves Faster Than We Do
As we get older, the world seems to grow louder and faster. People are busy. Days rush by. And sometimes, without anyone meaning to, we begin to feel invisible.
Not because people are unkind — but because life keeps moving.
Still, the heart doesn’t stop needing warmth.
A Small Request From an Old Soul
So if it’s not too much trouble, I have one small request:
Leave me a simple “happy birthday.”
Just a few words.
Because sometimes, one kind message is enough to make the day feel warm again. 🙏🏻
