Today Is My Son’s Birthday And More Than Candles or Gifts, I Hope He Learns How Deeply He Is Loved

And More Than Candles or Gifts, I Hope He Learns How Deeply He Is Loved 💛

Today is my son’s birthday.

As I fix his messy hair and straighten his tiny outfit, my heart tightens — and fills with gratitude — all at the same time. He has no idea how cruel the world can sometimes be to someone who carries a little mark on their face. And he has no idea just how much strength he was born with either.

Seeing the World Through a Parent’s Eyes

I’ve seen it happen.

People who look away too quickly.

Whispers that follow us down aisles.

Fingers that point.

Strangers who change sides of the street.

Not because he did anything wrong.

Not because of who he is.

Simply because he is different.

For those with empty hearts, difference becomes a reason to walk away. But for me — his parent — difference is the very reason I love him even more fiercely.

Today Is Not About Pity

Today, I don’t want to talk about pity.

I want to talk about courage.

The courage of a child who smiles openly even when someone looks at him with judgment.

The courage of a parent who learns, every single day, to see beauty where the world insists on pointing out “flaws.”

The courage it takes to remember that this small mark does not define who he is — it only tells a tiny part of his story.

And that part?

It proves he is one of a kind.

A Birthday Wish From the Heart

If this picture has found its way to you, I’m asking for one simple thing.

Please don’t be another person who scrolls past without seeing him.

Leave a “Happy Birthday” in the comments.

Write a kind word.

Send him love.

Show him — and remind me — that there is still so much goodness in this world.

Growing Up Proud of Who He Is

My greatest wish is that he grows up knowing this truth:

Being different is not something to hide.

It is not something to apologize for.

It is not a shame.

It is something to be proud of.

So write something for my boy today. And together, let’s prove that love is bigger than any mark — and that kindness still matters. 💛
