We are orphans… Today my little sister turned 5, but no one came to wish her a happy birthday. Please don’t leave without sending her a little love – it would mean the world to us.

Birthdays are supposed to be loud — full of laughter, hugs, and people who show up simply because they care.
But today, as my little sister turned five, the house was quiet. Too quiet.
No doorbell.
No balloons.
No cheerful voices coming down the hallway.
Just her… sitting with her tiny hands in her lap, waiting for someone who never came.
We’re orphans.
And while we’ve learned to live with silence, today it hit a little deeper.
She Turned 5 Today — and She Deserves the World
My sister is the brightest little soul you could ever meet.
She loves pink bows, silly songs, and drawing hearts on scraps of paper she pretends are “official letters.”
She doesn’t understand why some days feel emptier than others.
She doesn’t understand why people disappear.
She only understands kindness.
And today, all she wanted was for someone — anyone — to notice her birthday.
To her, turning five is magic.
To me, it’s a reminder of how small her world has become.
I Tried to Make It Special, But…
I baked her a cupcake.
I wrapped a tiny present I made myself.
I sang to her — a little off-key — and she giggled anyway.
But even with all that, she kept glancing toward the door.
Waiting. Hoping.
When she finally whispered, “Maybe they forgot?”
my heart cracked in a way I can’t describe.
No child should feel forgotten on their birthday.
All I’m Asking for Is a Little Love
We don’t need gifts.
We don’t need money.
We don’t need anything fancy.
Just a simple “Happy Birthday” for her — a moment of love she can hold onto, so she knows she isn’t alone in this world.
Sometimes, the smallest kindness is the one that carries someone the farthest.
For My Sister, on Her Fifth Birthday
If she could speak her heart, I think she’d say something simple:
“Thank you for thinking of me.”
So I’m saying it for her —
from one small family trying its best to keep going…
Thank you.
For seeing her.
For celebrating her.
For making sure today doesn’t disappear unnoticed.
Because even the quietest birthdays deserve to be remembered.
