Supatra Sasuphan: The Girl Once Called “The Hairiest Girl in the World” Has Grown Into Her Own

At just 10 years old, Supatra Sasuphan became known around the world for something she had spent much of her childhood being teased about.

Thick hair covered much of her face and body because of an extremely rare condition known as hypertrichosis. In childhood, the condition attracted enormous attention—and sometimes cruel reactions from other children.

But Supatra, also known as Nat or Natty, refused to let those reactions determine how she saw herself.

Growing Up With a Rare Condition

Supatra was born in Bangkok, Thailand, with a rare form of hypertrichosis associated with unusually excessive hair growth.

The hair was particularly noticeable on her face, ears and body. Growing up, she experienced bullying and was given hurtful nicknames by some classmates.

Yet she also insisted that she was not fundamentally different from other children.

She went to school, had friends, enjoyed activities such as dancing and swimming, and tried to live an ordinary childhood despite the attention surrounding her appearance.

Rather than allowing the condition to become the only thing people saw in her, Supatra developed a remarkably positive attitude toward herself.

The Guinness World Record That Changed Her Life

In 2010, when Supatra was still a child, she received international attention after being recognized by Guinness World Records for her exceptional level of body hair.

Her appearance had already attracted worldwide curiosity, but the record brought her story to an even larger audience.

For many people, being publicly identified because of a physical difference might have been overwhelming.

Supatra reacted differently.

She embraced the idea that her appearance was part of what made her unique.

In 2018, she publicly shared photographs with a man she described at the time as her first love and “the love of my life.” That relationship later ended.

More recently, she has shared photographs with another partner. In 2025, reports described Supatra as being in a new relationship, with photographs showing the couple spending time together and celebrating their relationship.

Her story had become much bigger than the childhood label that first made her famous.

A Different Kind of Transformation

When people first discovered Supatra, they were fascinated by how different she looked.

Years later, what stands out is not simply how dramatically her appearance may have changed.
